From the 01.07.2003 onwards, explosion-proof electrical and mechanical devices will only be permitted for introduction in Germany and in the other European countries of the EU with certificates according to "ATEX" regulations.
The EC-regulation 94/9/EC, the so-called ATEX -regulation, has been edicted in order to unify the explosion protection all over Europe. It defines the requests concerning the quality of explosion-proof devices and protection systems.

Explosion proof heaters and monitoring devices made by ELMESS-Thermosystemtechnik are supplied in general with "ATEX" certificates according to European Regulation 94/9/EC.

The following EC type-examination certificates are available:

• PTB 01 ATEX 1008 U and PTB 01 ATEX 1145 U for explosion proof heaters suitable for heating of liquid or gaseous mediums in hazardous areas zone 1, category II2G. The type of protection is EEx de IIC or EEx d IIC. The heaters can be equipped with temperature regulator and limiter installed for monitoring of the temperature class.
• PTB 03 ATEX 1133U for larger Ex heaters with type of protection EEx d(e) IIB.
• These certificates are also applicable for flow heaters.

• PTB 02 ATEX 1086X for Ex gas, air or motor anticondensation heaters
• PTB 02 ATEX 1085 for Ex space heaters
• PTB 03 ATEX 1029 for Ex finned tube heaters
• ZELM 02 ATEX 0077 for Ex temperature regulators
• PTB 03 ATEX 1001 and PTB 03 ATEX 1002 for Ex level switches
