History

History

A successful company history is only really successful if experience gained is profitably invested back into the company's future.

  • 1945
    Herbert Schweda founded a radio repair shop in Berlin and at the same time he started to develop electrical measuring devices. This was the birth of ELMESS.

  • 1956
    ELMESS-Elektrogeraetebau  presented the first explosion-proof electrical heater with integrated temperature monitoring. Within short time, the company achieved worldwide recognition as the number one address for explosion-proof electrical industrial heaters.

  • 1966
    The company moved  to Uelzen in North West Germany.

  • 1980
    The company founder died. The partners from "Eugen Klöpper" a company from Dortmund took over ELMESS. Alfred Beimdick and Friedrich Hinz became Managing Directors, Günter Maack became Works Director in Uelzen. ELMESS had 30 employees.
    Subsequently, fields of application and customer base were continually developed, new production halls and production facilities were added.

  • 1991
    The company's name was changed to ELMESS-Thermosystemtechnik GmbH & Co. KG stating the expertise for electrical heating systems.

  • 1998/99
    Certification to ISO 9001 and Directive 94/9/EG - start of the ATEX era.
    A new production hall with 900 m² increased the production area 60%.
    ELMESS had 55 employees.

  • 2000
    Generation change: Volker Hinz becomes Managing Director, Ralf Kiessling and Reinhard Wagner take over Works Management.

  • 2008
    First international trade fair participation in Beijing and Moscow reinforce the company's increasing global importance. Participation at exhibitions in Abu Dhabi, Rio de Janeiro, Almaty, Kuala Lumpur and Teheran are following.

  • 2009
    Company and products become certified according to IECEx.

  • 2012
    Founding of OOO Klöpper-Therm as an independent sales office in Moscow, Russia

  • 2022 Moscow Office closed

  • 2022
    The Swedish NIBE Group has acquired 100% of the shares  in Elmess-Thermosystemtechnik.
    With over 100 companies worldwide, the NIBE Group offers world-class solutions in sustainable energy. The aim is to increase energy efficiency and the amount of renewable energy used.
